Active Server Profiles

Programmer Studio literally hides many of the complexities of communicating with a remote server by establishing and using connections only when necessary. As this may cause a delay when opening a file or viewing a directory, Programmer Studio uses the main status-bar to reflect the current task and its status.

This status may take the format of a message indicating the current stage during authorization of the specified user, the amount of data received for a directory listing, or the time remaining before a file has been completely transferred.

Viewing Active Connections

As Programmer Studio will actively connect and re-connect a server when required, for many users the state of active connections is unimportant. Using the server connections window it is possible to determine which server profiles are currently connected, the duration of the connection, and also the name of the user authorized.

To display the server connections window, from the View menu select Server Connections.

Using the server connections window it is also possible to disconnect from a server. This will terminate the FTP or WTRSH connection used to access files and close the current TELNET session. This may be useful when server profiles have been configured to prompt for the login user, as this provides an easy way to change the current user.
